Solved Opinions on Mbam's Anti Exploit program.

I have seen this around and i heard it has a tiny footprint , i'm just curious as to how many hear have this on their system and if they think it's worth it.


I have Kaspersky AV and run Mbam to compliment it and i have no issues , zero day attacks make me a little nervous though since they are brand new and many are not in AV databases yet.

I've been using the free version (is there a paid version?) since last June without incident. According to the logs, it has not blocked anything, which is fine.

Uses about 40 megs of RAM on my system.

Can't say it's ever going to save your bacon, but it appears to be unobtrusive and causes no problems. Just an icon running in the System Tray.

Personally I don't use it. I did use it when it was known as ZeroVulnerabilityLabs ExploitShield before MBAM took over the project. All I got was acouple of false positive detections.

I did try using MBAM Anti-Exploit too but it doesn't work with all browsers that I use so it was useless to me. Also there are known issues to keep an eye on.

Having said that - if it works for you I guess it's an extra layer of protection worth having.

As for "known issues" and "conflicts", that can happen with ANY security program.
I am just a home user, but the MBAE team works very hard to resolve all such issues.

I've used the paid version for awhile now. While I have most of the default-shields off ['cause I don't have those programs], I haven't taken the time to enter the programs I do have, yet. So far, no problems, no alerts concerning MBAE. And, thanks MM for those links, I'm checking them out now.

I already use Mbam premium to run alongside my AV , just can't decide if adding MBAE would be worth it or not , seems most have noticed it has not shown in their usage to have blocked anything .

I suppose it can't hurt but i keep my system as minimal as i can as far as programs .

My system looks barren when you compare it to many others i have seen .

The 2 products work differently and in a complementary manner.

MBAM blocks the "what", while MBAE blocks the "how".

I've never used MBAE as the free version doesn't offer any protection for me.
I do use MS EMET, it's free and very customizable.
I've never had any conflicts or other problems with it.

I found it worked great for a while. Then, about 3 months ago, it started blocking IE (which I use sometimes). After the flash player debacle a couple months back, I noticed my flash player was extremely slow in coming up & froze the browser 1/2 the time. Finally, I did some investigating & while MBAE was engaged, I noticed in sysinternals process explorer it would start, launch, then shut down & launch again. It did this for 5 mins straight. Once MBAE was turned off, it launched with no problems.

Other people have reported similar problems of this nature, but not everyone, so it seems to be erratic on which system has probs. Recently I advised someone having probs to turn MBAE off & it solved the problem. I have no idea if it's Flash or MBAE that's the root of the problem, but they apparently don't like each other anymore. At least on my sys.

Each computer is unique, so it's hard to generalize about MBAE "not working" with IE or Flash or any other program or application.
The MBAE Product Manager actively assist users with issues in a forum reserved for this purpose.
Nearly every problem or conflict can be resolved.

I don't have Java or Adobe Reader.
I use Pale Moon as my main browser, and Foxit or Nitro Reader for PDF's.
Does MBAE free protect those ?

The most recent version of MBAE free does protect Pale Moon. In fact, every time you open Pale Moon you get a popup telling you that MBAE now protects Pale Moon. I hope that goes away.

The earlier version did not protect Pale Moon.
