Can't believe I missed this thread. whs is right, a proper Windows 7 installation will be in the neighborhood of 17-18GB......after drivers and updates that will be closer to 20GB. Most desktop users don't need hibernation turned on, so that will free up several GB, as will reducing the page file. Keeping the "User" data on the HDD is a good idea because none of that data will benefit from an SSD, and as those directories continually expand(documents, downloads, pictures, etc) you won't find your SSD space dwindling over time. For most people a 128GB SSD and a large capacity HDD or two is optimal. The 128GB models are faster than the smaller ones and usually are at the best price point. For example, when I bought my Samsung 830 128GB for $100, the 64GB model was $75. Also, think ahead when ordering your large capacity HDD. If you think you can make do with a 1TB and you already have several hundred GB of data.......think about going with a larger one. That was the problem I ran into with 2TB drives......I filled them up much quicker than I thought, and ended up having to get new 4TB hard drives. If anybody is curious, the 4TB Seagate HDD's on sale are VERY affordable @ $150. Think about that before you pay $100-110 for a 2-3TB model.
