OS constantly freezing in a variety of situations!

Hi all,

This problem really started about a month ago.

Around the end of November, my computer (Windows 7 64-bit, Dell Inspiron N4010) kept freezing after startup. I read an article that told me to do a clean boot, which I did, but it didn't help. I realized it didn't happen when I wasn't connected to the Internet. The problem finally ended when I switched from Mozilla Firefox to Google Chrome. All was well, I thought.

Then, on Christmas, it happened again. It doesn't happen after startup anymore, lately it's been happening while I'm video chatting on Skype and Yahoo. Then again, it just happened while I wasn't doing anything in particular (I had google Chrome up but I wasn't really doing anything) ... when it freezes, everything freezes slowly. First video freezes, then the taskbar etc. freezes, I can't open Task Manager cuz ctrl + alt + del does nothing, I can open new tabs in Chrome but I can't actually go to new websites... although lately (as in the past two hours) it freezes as soon as I log in, so...there's not just one situation here. There are several, unfortunately.

Can anyone give me possible insight? Anything would be appreciated. This computer is kind of a budget laptop, but it's only 6 months old so this shouldn't be happening yet
