I think you get a yellow exclamation in the signal strength area for unsecured networks.

In addition to securing your network, I strongly advise you choose WPA or WPA2 as your encryption if available.

It cant be another in range. There are no more in range. Mine is secured by WPA.

When I select that other network it asks me to put in the name of the SSID

I think the guy in range that you see is being "factitious"

"Other Network"

This is how you can test it... can you turn off your router and rescan the network to see if "other network" still shows or not.. that way we can see if its isolated to you or not.

It looks like someone else also has a network in you range. It can be your neighbour:p.
Check if it is WEP protected or WPA.

P.S-If it is WEP protected you can crack it.

I think it is just a Win7 default way of easily adding another or a hidden network by entering the SSID. I have no official answer but see it listed in my Win7, but not on my other devices. Also, it is in one of the screen shots here: How To Manage Your WiFi Networks In Windows 7
So i assume it is built into the Win7 Wireless Manager and not a neighboring device. Chances are slim that my neighbor also has a SSID of "Other Network" ;)

I had the same thing appear suddenly about 2 weeks ago. When I tried my passkey it connected. So it was my router sending out the proper SSID, and an unknown. I mused over this for 2 days, until I realized the only thing I changed was to turn the wireless broadcast off on my DIR-655. Turning it back on, the unknown went away.
