Out of memory error on HP Laptop

Hi, I am new to this forum and am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but....

I have a numbr of HP Probook 6540 and 6550 laptops running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. All appear to be running into an out of memory error about midday and need to be rebooted.

They are quite heavily used, but I never experienced this with XP or Vista, and I am running 7 Ultimate 32bit on my PC with no issues. I have a number of HP 6730 laptops running windows 7 32bit with no errors either.

Pease can someone help as I am bashing my head against the brick walls that are Microsoft and HP (both blaming each other and not taking responsibility for the problem!!)?

How much memory have you got installed in the laptops? Since you are using 32-bit, the maximum I would recommend is 4GB. Another thing - what setting have you got your Paging File (Virtual Memory) set at? See Virtual Memory Paging File - Change - Vista Forums and ensure that it is set as System Managed and check the option Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

What additional software do you have? ANtivirus? Antimalware? etc. Try this, open up msconfig, go to the services tab, check the "Hide all Microsoft Services" tab, then Disable All. Go to the Startup tab and disable all there as well, unless you know of things that you absolutely need. Reboot, and see how it behaves. You can then add 1 item at a time back until teh problem re-occurs.
