Hello; Yesterday, AVG 2011 did an automatic update on my ASUS n55sf laptop. After reboot, Outlook 2007 displays message " cannot display the view" and none of my folders can be opened. Spoke to AVG and loaded AVG 2012 internet security; same problem. Started outlook in safe mode and attempted to disable avg add on, but get message that I need to be logged on as administrator (I am the administrator and only user of the laptop. Went to program files x86, office 12, outlook and right clicked on outlook logo and selected run as administrator; still cannot disable avg add on, getting the same administrator message. any ideas anyone?

You can try to restore your computer, and seriously consider removing AVG and using something better, such as MSE

The choice is yours, please don't feel like I am pressuring you, just a recommendation. To remove AVG, use the correct uninstaller from AVG: AVG | Download tools and utilities

If you do not want to remove AVG, I would recommend bugging them until someone gives you the help you need, or waiting here for some other help from another member.

Do make sure windows is completely updated for compatability and stability reasons.

Thanks; I have thought of changing and am looking for the best anti malware solution. I have to admit that AVG has served me well over the years. Don't really know much about MSE.

That is just a recommendation, there are others such as avast, etc. Reason I use MSE is that it is a low profile and integrated antivirus that works well with windows. And it is pretty good at catching malware, rated pretty high.

It puzzles me too why outlook would have or need an avg add-on. Perhaps it is an optional feature during the install? I do not know, you would have to ask AVG themselves.
