Solved Outlook 2007 - odd message

I installed MS Office Pro 2016, then uninstalled it. Before uninstalling 2016, I opened Outlook 2016 to see what the interface looked like but I didn't attempt to set it up. Programs in Office 2007 Pro appears to be fine but my Outlook 2007 now gives me the following message each time it is opened.

My email comes in correctly and all appears normal except for this issue. I searched for solutions here in the forum but the suggestions I thought might apply didn't solve my problem. Can I use the Office Installation disk to try a repair? I'd rather put up with this than cause more headaches for myself but willing to attempt a fix or repair, if fairly simple, in order to get rid of this message.

The Outlook program association appears to be recognized in windows, I've rebooted, etc. so I don't know why I'm getting this message. My sincere thanks for your time.... Mary

When you installed a later version of Office & then ran Outlook 2016, even just to see, it will switch the default email program to the latest, which in this case was Outlook 2016, as you can only run one version of Outlook.

Now that you have uninstalled Office 2016 & Outlook 2016, it has not returned to your Outlook 2007 program correctly.

You need to open Control Panel & select Mail (Microsoft Outlook), this will open a small window with Email Accounts, Data Files & Show Profiles. Click on Email Accounts. If you only have one mark it as the default, if you have more that one mark the one you want as the default.

If this doesn't fix the problem, open the Data File applet & point Outlook to the correct data file.

You should not have to change your Outlook Profile.

If you wish to repair Office, open Control Panel, select Programs & Features, scroll down to Microsoft Office, Right Click on it & select Change, this should open a couple of Repair Options you can try.
