I have recently moved from XP to win 7 but do not like the layout of Live mail. Is there any way I can use Outlook Express on 7 even though it is not supported. I think I can buy Outlook to do this but over £ 100 far too much. Comments appreciated.

Hi firefrost, welcome to sevenforums.

I'm not sure you can use Outlook Express on Windows 7 without some type of funky hacks, the likes of which I know nothing about. And i'm not even sure there are hacks to get OE to work on Windows 7

Anyways the quick short answer is no, you can't use OE on Windows 7.

Thanks for the welcome, In Windows 7 for Dummies the author writes on page 168,
'Windows Live Mail can send and receive e-mail from many e-mail addresses other than Microsoft's own, and the program probably works fine with your current e-mail address'
I wanted to access e-mails from my old address, @btinternet.com, on the 7 PC but can't see how to do it.

To send and recieve e-mail from any account requires it to be set up. How you do that, and what's required should be provided by the e-mail service provider. Check to see if they have instructions on setting it up with Live Mail.

Good luck.

Many (most?) people who liked Outlook Express DISlike Windows Live Mail for the same general reasons. Thin and light vs cumbersome and ill-thought-out.
