Some time back I received a message whilst logging into my Hotmail account informing me of a security change request. I had tried to update my phone number details shortly before this but the message said that someone may be trying to use my account, so I went along with the process and selected yes it was me that tried to do this etc. Then a window asking for a security code that would be sent to the an old phone number that I no longer use was required, well this is where I got stuck. I no longer know the phone number so I basically hit a wall. I clicked a few buttons to try to get around this and was finally told that it would require a wait of 30 days to make the changes, no problem as it still gave me access to my account.

Today when I tried to log on, it said that someone is using my account, I presume my estranged wife is snooping as I used her laptop a few times to access my Hotmail account. So I went through a process of changing the password, which I managed to do and stupidly clicked the two step verification option, again it required a code from my old phone number which I have stated I no longer know, it was a phone number from a few years ago.

So, I am locked out of my Hotmail account and for some reason, the 30 day wait expires on the 29th of this month which means that someone has reset it and it wasn't me.

What can I do to change my phone number to my current one?

Is the a phone support team that I can ring and sort all of this out as I am well and truly stuck here.

I have just found the micorsoft.com support page, so I will see how I go with them.

Hello,

Have you found the way to get access to your account?

I have the same issue and I just can get any type of support. I had an email to set up two step verification and it works so well that I lost complete access to my email, data Sky-drive now one drive and other services.

I just dont know what to do. I have try all the ways the webpage says, but I can. My phone number has change and that was the only way I can the reset code.

I will appreciate any help...Thanks..

Welcome to Seven Forums . This is usually a maddening issue, and very common. I did bookmark this site, online chat. Never got any feedback if it worked, or was for pay accounts only, etc. Let us know how it goes.

Perhaps they can at least point you in the right direction. Free email has no phone or (ironicly) email support it seems.
