Herro peeps,

while playing games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 I'm most of the time recording as well.
While playing and recording I do also want to listen to some music, but i don't want the music to be in the recorded file.
I tried different outputs for the music and recorded audio devices in Dxtory, which is the program I use to record the gameplay.
Nothing worked, I either got game sound and the music in the recorded file or no sound at all.
Now I got the idea to output the gamesound through my motherboard AND my soundcard (Asus Xonar D1), output the music only through my soundcard and record only the motherboard output with Dxtory. I hope you guys understand what i mean, excuse my English.

So i want to know: Is this possible and if yes, how?

Additional information:
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
Win7 Ultimate 64bit
Asus Xonar D1

tl;dr version:

output gamesound through two outputs at the same time
possible?
if yes, how?

(Excuse any mistakes, English is not my native language.)

You can only have one "default audio playback device" and that is probably what is limiting you from splitting and using two sound cards.

So i guess that means it's not possible.

Any other ideas how I can only record the game sound and not the music?

With the music part if you have a dvd player with USB do what I do, load up the USB with music, etc, play it while doing your thing.

It's been the worst day since yesterday (thanks Flogging Molly) so apt!
I guess I know what you mean, but most of the time I'm listening to an online radio + I'm using a headset, so I want to hear gamesound and music through the headset

At the very least you need 2 sound devices (2 sound cards like the one you have already and a USB one OR a sound card and a USB headset). Then you can theoretically find a way to pipe music+ game through device 1 while piping only game through device 2.

But I have no experience in setting this up. I have only heard of gamers managing to do it.
