Packard Bell Ixtreme M5722

I have raised a zip file, attached, but this is not quite your usual BSOD. Running Railworks or Open BVE, or playing simple games, my computer just loses the video signal, accompanied by a loud buzzing through the speakers. The only way to recover is to hold the power button and reboot.

The OS is Windows 7 64 bit and came with the computer and is the original OS. I have on two occasions reloaded the OS from the recovery partition because of problems with this computer. The computer is 15 months old and the last time I reloaded the OS was about 8 months ago.

As an addition, could anyone explain how I get into the case to clean out the dust. I asked Packard Bell but they want $40 dollars to answer that question.

Apparently you just slide your fingers under the rim to the rear of the case and you should find a catch which you press. The side should now just come off.

Thx for the replies fimble and theog. Have not tried it yet as away from home.

Anybody any ideas what the problem could be, I see another guy has the same problem and so far nobody has answered his query, hoping for better luck as I have zipped a BSOD report.

HAS ANYBODY READ THE bsod REPORT, 187 Views and other than the first couple of guys, noone is advising on this problem.

Graphics Card

Hello, I had this exact problem with this pc, your graphics card is gone. You might want to download the Nvidia system monitor and keep an eye on the temperature of the GPU (when it gets over 105 degrees it crashes the pc). I had the card replaced by Currys whilst it was in warranty but a year on I'm encountering the same problem again. It might also be worth underclocking the card. I'm looking at getting a new card completely atm, maybe some extra fans.

220 card

I had the exact same problem and it was down to the 220 graphics card. An overheating problem. If I left it off for a while to cool down I got anything up to another hour before it went off again.

I have now replaced the 220 card with something a little better - problem solved.

Thx for the reply guys, as a forum this seems a complete waste of time. completed the BSOD instructions as requested by the so called experts and no replies from my download whatsoever.

sorry wish id seen this before
you shouldnt need to change the card, take off case side.
lay pc on side, clean the graphic card fan use a can of air a small paint brush and a hoover, it will be no doubt clogged up with crap its a common fault

Thx deanlad1980 but you are wrong, its a rubbish computer with a rubbish CPU and a rubbish graphics card. Packard Bell are just rubbish, the wiring inside the case has just been thrown in, the fittings are poor and not easy useage. I have just wasted my money and would not even waste money on trying to upgrade as the rest of it is so bad
