3 days ago when using ie8 got bsod, which continues on every re-boot right after desktop loads, unless in safe mode. Windows 7 32bit Ultimate

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
~ Peformed system restore. No luck in fixing.
~ No recent software or hardware installs
~ Works fine in safemode with networking
~ Ran dell hardware diag. all passes
~ ran mem error check. fine
~ swaped ram with another dell laptop. did not change.
~ downloaded bluescreeviewer. Points to netkrnlpa.exe and halmacpi.dll
~ under system devices IDE ATA controller, shows channels 0,1,4,5 and Standard 1.0 serial. A few days a ago it showed channel 3 as well with the yellow triangle! I uninstalled it guessing it could be the problem.
~ disabled speaker.

I have attached minidump files.

Please help. This sucks.

Hi,

Perform a clean boot:
Uninstall AVG, it contributes in BSOD-s:
MSE is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software:-
:warn: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Upload a screenshot of your hard disk using crystal disk info & summary tab using Speccy:
Make a hard drive test from the hard drive manufacturers website.
Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

Run the System File Checker. It allows the user to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files.

  • 1. Click on the :orb:
    2. Type CMD on Search
    3. Left click and Run as Administrator
    4. Type SFC /scannow
Full tutorial here:
Go to this link: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect and check the system for latest updates. Download and install all latest drivers.

Post back results.

Thanks for responding.

~ I turned off all non-MS services.
~ I downloaded and installed MSE in safe mode, installed and updated.
~ Ran full scan. Came back with 17 or 18 Severe visus alerts, which were deleted.
~ Reset the laptop in normal mode.
~ Ran good for about 10 mins. Then another BSOD appeared. BCCODE 10000008e. Points to ataport.sys
~ I have not downloaded any other programs because of the new bsod.
~ Ran a chkdsk. Left the laptop about 3/4 the way thourgh and when I came back it was rebooting. Did not see any errors.
~ Ran SFC. It did say it corrected several errors.

Old bsod is not happening now. New ataport.sys BSOD is now happening in normal mode. Also, as I continue to work on the laptop it gets slower and slower and slower. Even in safe mode.

Please advise

John
