Paint shop pro 7

Yes, but you will probably need a 3rd party program like gparted to format your hard drive before you install XP..

Just bought new note/laptop HP pavilion dm1 (For travel purposes- have to put into hand luggage on the cheap airlines we have to use in Europe)This has win 7 .

From all the above posts it seems that upgrading to the corel psp x2 has to be the answer.

I run a website that uses a far amount of pics each week and psp 7 has just the right actions for this purpose.. having to pay extra for a more sophsticated programme than I need is an added cost. No sponsors. Same with Office have to use the 'trial ' programme ...Big mistake my other laptops work fine with xp pro.

Can I wipe out Windows 7 and install xp pro?
I wouldn't say that x2 is more sophisticated, its just newer. The program is much slower due to bloat as well. It works, but I still would prefer 7.

Have you tried the Gimp? Its an open source program and maybe once you adjust it would suit your needs. As far as that goes, you could try OpenOffice.

There is always Virtual Box. Install Windows XP in virtual box to run all your old programs..... I did that for a while and it works ok.

I'm a super new newbie on windows 7. I can't even figure out how to work documents yet but I have my old, faithful PSP 7 that I use to draw freehand on and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add gradients and what not to the files that exist in C: windows/program 86 files. I don't how to "send" or however to that file. Pleeeeeeez don't tell me they have a fix so no one can add to those programs that allow you do so.

I'm delited to find this win7 forum. I have a feeling I need to learn a bunch.

Thank y'all.

Never mind...got it figured....DOH!! I remember kicking and screaming out of win 98 as wel...growing pains. Forgot about d n d.

I bought PSP X2(X3 is out now) it's slow as hell, worthless bezier curve(even MSPaint has a better bezier Curve), crappy text tool, and a copy protection crap that is forced to run in background to allow you to run it... so despite paying $50 or so for PSP X2, I STILL use my 12 year old paint shop pro 5 because of the better tools. Corel sucks

as to associating, I dunno. Try right clicking on JPG from windows explorer and associating it with psp from there. right click, "Open With" (or shift right click or whatever to get it).

It worked fine for me to associate PNG and JPG to PSP 5 in windows 7 64 bit, I used the windows explorer Open With command to always open with PSP5

I tried useing PSP 7.04 by installing first the v 7.0 then updated to 7.04. It ran really screwy and every time it was Win 7 said it did not run properly. I uninstalled it and installed PSP Anniversary Edition (says it is v 7.07). This ran much better. There were only a few minor things that were different than running PSP 7.04 on Win XP.

Win 7 only said it did not run properly on the first time I closed it..

As far as PSP 13 both X2 and X3. I never could get either one to install.

Make sure you have removed all previous installs trash left behind. Do a thorough search for any and all PSP files and delete them then
Shut Down Firewall and AV and try installing PSP "OFF LINE!"

I have psp pro x3 and version 8. I am using psp pro x3 and have an win 7 home edition 64 bit version. I can get about half the plugin to work. the other give me an error message "Unable to load file. The plug in may not be installed properly or be missing files".

I have many other plugins that work. I have downloaded drivers and did corel updates and specific updates for drivers. I have no clue what the problem is or how to solve it. I have tried everything I can think of. Anyone have any ideas and I am curious why half my plugins work.

Don't give up hope..

I'm posting this for those of you that find this thread via websearch (like I did)...

I just replaced my HP laptop (Vista-x64) which ran PSP 7 just fine, with a ThinkPad running Windows 7 x64 SP1. I was able to install from my Jasc product CD (as Administrator) without problem, but when I ran it, I got the pop-up mentioned earlier in this thread ("did not run properly" or something like that). I then set the executable to run in XP-SP3 compatibility mode, and got a security-popup instead.

However, on a whim, I set the compatibility mode to Win 2000, and PaintShop Pro 7 (SEVEN) is running fine without error(fingers-crossed). :geek:

Happy Photo-editing!
