Hello all. I am new on here and before I posted a question wanted to know which 'section' the question is best suited for.

I've a new install of Win7Pro and I also have Paltalk installed. Paltalk doesn't like to run now although it did with XP.

Software section? Browsers?

Thanks.

P

If you download the latest version of Paltalk that runs on Windows 7 fine!

So what version of Paltalk have you tried? Can you actually complete the install or do you get an error message? You say you have a new install of Windows 7 Pro, what did you have installed on this PC before Win 7 Pro? Where did you get your copy of Win 7 pro from?

Well, let's see... Paltalk, now uninstalled, was showing version 11.3 although I don't remember the build. I tried earlier versions too.

The installation seems to go fine, nothing abnormal. The rub comes when I actually try to open the program. There is quite a long wait time once I click on the log in button. The program opens with a blank window and after another wait, lets say 10 seconds, the window fills in. Now, if I click on preferences in order to alter the functioning of the program the program seems to stop responding. If I click again I actually see the 'not responding' in the title bar of the Paltalk window. Sometimes it clears up, sometimes I get a Windows prompt asking me if I want to close the program or wait for it. I've had to use task manager to close it down one time.

The previous OS was Windows XP Pro, 32 bit. Nothing special there. Updates were run regularly, AV and anti-malware programs kept running.

This edition of Win 7 Pro 64-bit was purchased from Newegg, new-in-the-wrapper.

I'mnot sure what changed but PT finally updated to an even newer version of itself then I had been downloading last week. Version is 11.4, build 557. The software seems to run much, much better then before. At least it does not hang up when opening now. Still a little slow at times but certainly usable. Thanks for all of the suggestions!
