Solved Password For The User-Administrator Account

"administrator user - Is an unelevated administrator account that is created by default during the installation of Windows 7, or is already setup or you on a OEM (ex: Dell) computer. An administrator account has complete access to the computer, and can make any desired changes. To help make the computer more secure, this administrator account type will be prompted by UAC by default to give confirmation before allowed to make any changes that require elevated administrator rights. Such as those that affect the system, other users, or when running anything elevated (Run as Administrator) since running elevated will allow it to have access to the entire computer".

The above was taken from a Forums tutorial. Is it possible to require a password for this account when operating in the standard User Account ?

For example, when I update the Windows Defender definitions, I right click the file and click "Run As Administrator". It does so without requiring a password.

When "Run As Administrator" is clicked, I would like to have to enter a password.
Possible or not ?

Add a password to your administrator account.

A Standard user will be prompted for the password for "Run as administrator".
You will also need to enter the password to login to the administrator account.

Don't lose or forget the password !

At the boot screen, I have a choice of the User1 account or the Administrator account. Both have passwords.
When working in the User1 account, if I want to run a .EXE extension, I simply right click the file, chose "Run As Administrator" and the file executes.
So, anyone using the computer could run any executable file, as the administrator, without having to furnish a password.
Is it possible to require a password to run an executable.

The User1 account is an administrator account (type).
You would need to change the User1 account type from Administrator to Standard.

Then you will get prompted for the Administrator account password when you "Run as administrator".

Sorry for the confusion...I am the administrator and I set up the username and password 4 years ago...Why I needed an Administrator set up is beyond me...I'm not trying to 'break into' anything...just want to back up his files like I backed up mine as we plan to do a System Restore or something with Dell Support because of the stupid Acrobat Core DLL that doesn't load...5 hours with Dell support and now they tell me to back up our files so they can reinstall Windows 7...geesh!

If you have an administrator account, you don't need his password, just take ownership of his files from within the "Security" tab within "Advance" on the properties window for the folders in question.

Thanks, will try that....anyone know how to fix the "Acrobat COR DLL" not loading error I'm getting which is causing me to have to System Restore of download windows 7 again?
