Password Programs

I get tired of trying to remember passwords for all of the sites I frequent. I have seen the programs that remembers your password and just allows the user to put in one master password. I just wondered if any of you have used them and if they were worthwhile, safe or what you might think about them. Thanks,

I have used keepass for many years. I have just under 400 account entries tracked within keepass. I stayed with version 1... so I cannot comment on version 2's interface. I also don't use any browser plug-ins or add-ons to talk between keepass and the browser. Maybe I should, but I just haven't.

I like having only one database file to back up

Keepass also allows for notes on each account. If I contact a human about an account, I take notes on who I talked to and what they promised. I also write down any confirmation numbers that I get.

Keepass also generates passwords for you, but be warned: some websites have password length limits that they don't mention - then when you attempt to use a long password, the log in fails.

I'm not saying that Keepass is the best - I would not know. It was the first password management software that I tried and I've never had a reason to try anything else.

Lastpass is a good one. Handy for keeping it backed up and synced across as many computers/devices you need.

I use keepass as well. The professional 2x version. Works for me. Also use lastpass for frequented sites, but use keepass more overall.

I just thought of something I would like to ask. If I download this at home and enter my passwords, I would also have to download one for work and enter the passwords in order to use that computer for my personal business on company time, correct?

I decided against doing that. I have also doubts about the program now that I think about it. If it were to get corrupted, I can see all kind of problems.

I use the free version of MozyHome online backup. I have it set to backup the Keepass database every two hours. Mozy keeps versions of the file for 30 days. I have 5 versions stored with Mozy right now. If I noticed file corruption (which I've never seen), I would use Mozy's software or web interface to bring a previous copy of the database back to my computer.

I've also downloaded the database file onto another computer. While this is not ideal, it does handle the times when the laptop that I use is being replaced or repaired.

As a side note, way too many Mozy users are surprised to find that the backup sets did not backup the files that they thought were being backed up. I only use the file system tab to select folder/files to be backed up... then I use the web interface to verify that the files are there.

I use LockNote I have it on USB stick not on PC
