Password protecting keystrokes

Hi all,

I've been hauling through the net looking for a tool that will allow me to password protect keystrokes as such. What I'm actually trying to do is password a few buttons, that when pressed together open a program.

I tried using a tool that did password the program itself on execution, while this would of done the trick, the program is run on windows startup and asks for the password when windows fires up, which is not what I want :(

I've searched high and low for a program to simply password a set of pressed keys and while there must be software out there that will do this, for all my searching, all I keep getting is results pertaining to keystroke logging programs which is not what I'm after :(

Anyone able to help me with this, or at least point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

Hello V, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if this below may be able to help. It's a bit of a workaround, but may help you to use the tool like you wanted to afterwards. :)

Use the tutorial below to create an elevated shortcut to run the tool you tried without getting a UAC prompt.
Afterwards, use this new elevated shortcut with the tutorial below to run the tool at startup without getting a UAC prompt.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks Shawn, I will have a look into the links you posted.

I think I will have a problem though, as it's not UAC that's giving me the hassle. I was using a program like KaKa ExeLock or EXE Password to lob a simple password on the executable, and whenever it's run (via the .exe or shortcut keys), it asks for a predefined password before allowing you to go any futher.

It works fine in that respect, and that's what I'm after, but I need to deal away with the password request box (launched by the .exe protection program) popping up everytime windows fires up and gets to the desktop. It does this because the program is set to automatically launch when windows starts and run in the background, if that makes sense? :\

Regards

Ah, ok. I had thought it was UAC asking for the password. The tutorials I posted above will not help with the program itself asking for a password. :(

Hopefully someone may know of an alternative workaround for you.
