Pc-1 on new win install in infinite loop w/ format done> how access

ok doing verify disc again. but you misunderstood: 4 times of the below process for windows ( not the whole gateway up to that point):

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click to restart the computer and then restart the installation."

this windows only process starts after the multiple run disc's Gateway processes is done. so doing a verify might be undeeded. will do anyway. Jim

Edit. just realized I had "autoplay" off the whole update time. So?????

Guess I did, imagine that!

Confusing me again!

Autoplay shouldn't be turned off on non-working machine! My query is regarding the non-working machine, and disk insertion in that machine.

When you placed disk 1 into non-working computer, what happened? Did it complete and request next disk? If so, what disk did you get to before the error occurred?

VSO... Ugh. thought you were looking for that gtwy's disc integrity. ran vso on working machine. Its the language pack disc.

VSO had trouble with file read on the 1st run. Had all no-reads.

Rebooted and on file try 2 got thru it.

Gonna do it on PC1 nonworking machine now. Ooops!
Bbut on both runs says just 61% green with no orange problems or red error.

Update. Just tried to open PC! nonworking mach. But its still stuck on the above mentioned;

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click to restart the computer and then restart the installation."

I have no idea if autoplay is off ot not. Have not ever had a chance to get to the windows "autoplay" on-off check box to see. I cannot get into an operative windows program on no-work PC1. the same no view windows problem as before but now after the GTWY disc programs started to work

In sum: PC1 cannot get to the autoplay turn on or off or any vso program either. There is no desktop folder to see the vso icon to start it to run, nor nor any windows ORB to get to the control panel either. Jim

Okay, so....

Sorry for the delay, Dad decided he wanted to use the computer!

Where are we at now?
Don't concern yourself with autoplay on either machine now.

  1. Did you run VSO-Inspector, on operational PC, on all the disks from 2- last?
  2. Did they pass or were there errors? If errors then on what disks.

Q: Did you run VSO-Inspector, on operational PC, on all the disks from 2- last? >no just the one you wanted to wit:
"Try the verify disk again, on the disk that the system error occurred, with VSO-Inspector". On PC2!

Q: Did they pass or were there errors? If errors then on what disks? >On the one disc you wanted (above) called the language Disc. Got zero orange problems, zero red errors, and the sole results were on the Green good indicator. But it ran only up to 61% it said. Thinking its because it's the language disc, kinda an unusual disk for vso to analyze. ????

Here's an idea from research, on working pc, click Start ORB, all programs.

Is there a folder "Gateway" or very similar listed?

If you left-click on it is there a file called "Recovery Management"?

VSO-Inspector scans all types of files, the file test only checks for integrity of the data within the file. CDs/DVDs/BRs are incorrectly considered long term virtually indestructible media. Over time, errors can occur on the surface, i.e. bits are either unreadable, flip 0 (zero) is read as 1 or 1 is read as 0. They are also easily scratched, scratches that follow the curve of the disk are worse then across.

How long did did you let VSO-Inspector run on language disk?

started on its 9-minute indicator both times. But when the speed went down, naturally it took longer overall.

oh, missed the gateway question. Yes on a left click, two "gateway" icons appear. #(1). disc icon plus the words "Gateway recovery management". #(2).Icon of an Earth-like globe with the words "Gateway updater"

Yes,

I'm not sure if it will be more than one DVD, you may be able to create a USB flash drive or an ISO file.
Notice it says: DISK not DISKS.

See red text below

DVD capacity 4.6 GB, CD capacity 750 MB
:

DVD will hold 6.13333 times more data than a CD

If you use a DVD it will most likely be one or two DVDs at most. Win7x64 install disk I have is one DVD, 3.1 GB

Create the recovery disk in Windows 7

Windows 7 users can create the set of recovery disks using the Gateway Recovery Management software. Follow these instructions.

  1. Turn on your computer
  2. Go to Start and then to All Programs
  3. Find a Gateway folder
  4. Click on Gateway Recovery Management
  5. Select Create factory default disc
    gateway-recovery-management-windows-7.png
Gateway Recovery Management in Windows 7
  6. At the Create Backup Disc screen, insert your first blank CD or DVD and make sure the optical drive is selected at the “Burn to” item. The software will let you know how many CDs and DVDs you need, if you plan to use either a CD or a DVD
  7. Click Start
  8. The software will prompt you to insert the next blank CD or DVD to continue the process
  9. Insert a new blank media and click OK

Disk created. Continue with the next blank disk.
  10. When the process is complete, click OK to exit the software program

While Thinking about it, if you have it handy, do you know a fast easy way/program to check the space left on a DVD or CD? J

Uh....
Insert disk 1 in non-working pc turn off, turn on and press the appropriate F key to enter boot menu, choose CD/DVD, follow screen prompts and cross fingers. ;)

Do you have a sticker on your PC with OEM Product Key, pretty sure you'll need that, on my HP Desktop its left side bottom rear.

View Capacity & Free Space of CD/DVD/BR, start ImgBurn, at top of window left-click mode, click read

What the H am I looking at? Just one big long product key or what?
