I need my sons PC to automatically shut down and lock him out of it (say from 12a-6a). He has to be the administrator on the PC because he has certain software that simply won't work unless you're signed in as one (don't ask me why, it's stupid). Another reason being, he needs to be able to add software as needed without us having to enter a password every time. Anyway, I can't seem to find a way to shut down the PC entirely at set time and not let him back on it until the reentry time. I've tried things like Windows Family Safety but it jumps in at other random places even if I only activate the time restraints.

Please, don't reply with remarks such as "Its called parenting", I don't need that. I need an answer on how to set the PC. Thanks!

PS - Don't get too technical on me, I will get lost. LOL

I can't provide details, but there are other parental programs, such as K9. Also, you can limit online hours in your router, and give it a password independent of any computer account.

I want it to disable the entire pc though, not just online. Is that possible??

Not through the router. You will need a prog that locks the computer at a higher level of authority than an administrative user. I'm almost certain they're available, but don't know the details.

Being an administrator there is nothing you can do really.
Administrator, by design, have full, unrestricted total access to everything in the computer (and for those that they don't, they can get it) so the first thing to realize is that whatever thing you do to quick him out, get can lift it and get in anyway. Relying on obscurity just provides an illusion of security. As soon as he realizes what you've done, he can simply disabling it (that includes finding it by chance, actively investigating or just come across this thread :p)

A quick and dirty way could be to create a scheduled task to invoke a system shutdown at a given time, repeating until the time he is allowed to use the computer again. Not the most elegant thing to do, but it could do the work.
But once again, remember that he, as an administrator, can disable or delete the task.
