PC connection with server

Hi my office PC has been recently formatted.The IT expert will not be here for the next few weeks to connect my computer to the existing server.

My 32 bit PC is running on a Windows 7.

Can anyone help/send me a tutorial to do so?

Are you connected to your network ?

yes I am connected to the local internet network.

I don't know the type of the server,I can ask when the right person becomes available.

Right click on the network icon ( it`s down on your task bar on the right side, looks like a tv ) open network and sharing center, click on show full map and see if the server shows up. It would help if you knew the name of the server.

Could I solve it if I knew the type of the server?

If so what do I need to know exactly?Brand/model/OS?

You would need to know the name of the server, every computer has a name. Not the brand or model. But if mapping is disabled you can`t do it anyway. Better let someone there who knows what they`re doing take care of it. That`s what they get paid for.icnic:

Hi vecie78,

As much as we all want to help you out with your issue, it's just proper to contact someone in your IT Dept. This is a work PC and they shd be able to assist you. If you are trying to circumvent your company's network protocols you might be in trouble.
