I'm not sure where to start...

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/389579-reboot-update-loop-after-repair.html

My PC has been unable to update for many moons. I finally formatted and did a clean install. I updated windows and today tried to update my AMD GPU but it fails. Essentially, it seems like any stress on the system causes it to crash. It does not reboot and restarts without any indication that it crashed. There are logs and PNP.kernel shows up.
I noticed that when I booted into safe mode a couple times it would boot upon hitting pnpkernel.sys (I THINK)

It's an older laptop, z575 with a AMD a6 3420. I have the generic VGA and chip set installed because Catalyst crashes or tells me I'm missing files when I try to install.

I feel like I should just junk this thing...I'm not sure where to start.

It does not seem like you are having BSODs, but I woild like you to run the BSOD posting Instructions http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html and upload them here. This will tell you how, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html. It has some error reports that may help.

Please keep a watch on your CPU temps. I would also like you to open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.
