I have a new (3 weeks old) Win 7 pro, 64 bit Tablet/Laptop Hybrid thats having a serious problem (PC specs below).
The PC ran fine for a week and then the problem began.
The problem is that the PC frequently reboots itself and then runs a check disk. This often occurs when installing software but it can start spontaneously as well. Usually the check disk finds a few things that need to be fixed and then the PC boots normally. The PC at this point may run fine for a bit or may, within a few min self boot again. Occasionally, the check disk will find a lot of orphaned files and will delete them. This happened twice that I allowed the check disk to proceed to the end and the 2nd time the PC failed to boot. When this last happened I rolled back to a snapshot taken by RollBack Rx to a time prior to the large orphaned file check disk find and the PC booted fine but the spontaneous reboot problem continued.
I have been in contact with the PCs mfg and their solution is to put a new hard drive into the PC which will have a fresh install of W7 64 bit on it. When they told me this I asked what would happen if the same problem occurred once I got the PC back, they replied they would keep replacing components until the problem was resolved.
My question is,,,,,
Do you think this the correct course of action, or even a reasonable course of action?
If not what would a reasonable course of action be?
