Greetings people of the Sevenforums community.

My computer is pretty old. It's been here since like 2006(7).
The only thing that has been replaced so far is the GFX Card because it died and nothing more..

But for a very long time now, like 12-8-2013 it has been excessively BSOD'ing. With different error types and I'm really clueless about what to do..

I got a nice list of minidumps zipped into a folder.
(Note: I didn't use the sevenforums tool on the PC, because it crashes before I even get to windows)

I'll attach the .zip.. hope anyone can be of help.

With a friendly greet,
Rimikumo

Rimikumo, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Also, Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the CPU.

storage environment

I would love to do all the things suggested by you, problem is.. I cannot get into windows.. Sometimes it crashes there and at other times it crashes even way before windows starts.

I have had Windows 8 with the crashes.. and a downgrade back to windows 7 and back to 8 to see if it all helped but it kept crashing. So it's no Windows error for sure, but some hardware problem.. Either way, it prevents me from going in to windows, I was lucky enough to be able to snatch those minidumps real quick.. but that's about it.

Oh, and Memtest doesn't work on my pc.. dunno why, it just doesn't load.. when I put it in my PC it shows a black screen with just a bunch of 0460's coming by.. not how it's supposed to work

Hi Rimikumo, how did you attempt to run the MEMTEST86+ iso?
CD, DVD, USB thumbstick?
I prefer running it off a USB.
You can use YUMI to achieve that.
Simply the USB letter at the top and Memtest86+ (Memory Testing Tool) from the drop down list.

Hi! I tried it through DVD, since (strangely enough) my DVD burner doesn't read CD's anymore but DVD no problem.. ( I already removed it from my motherboard to see if it was the problem but it wasn't.. though)

And.. it doesn't seem to work for USB, tried all 3 settings..
USB-FDD
USB-CDROM
and
USB-ZIPP
but it won't load or whatever...

It is a computer of 2007. Not sure if booting from USB is supported in that motherboard.

You are having Ntfs.sys error there, which indicates to HDD.

So some disc environment is to be checked.

The storage controller driver is very old.
Code:
fffff880`012b1000 fffff880`013cf000 iaStorV (deferred)
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\iaStorV.sys

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
No feasible update is available with Acer. Neither Windows 7 drivers, nor storage controller drivers.

Moreover, the driver is set to be RAID mode: Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R SATA RAID-controller
So, it will not be easy to uninstall the driver without disabling the Intel RapidStorage and RAID in the BIOS. But in that case Windows will refuse to boot, as it will miss the storage controller. You have to perform a clean install of windows there.

If you perform a clean install, avoid MagicISO. If you dont, Uninstall it.

Also test your HDD with WD Data Lifeguard.

As it is an old computer, we should ask for one more thing. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

I did a extended test and this was the result:

Test Option: EXTENDED TEST
Model Number: WDC WD5000AAKS-22TMA0
Unit Serial Number: WD-WCAPW3531134
Firmware Number: 12.01C01
Capacity: 500.11 GB
SMART Status: PASS
Test Result: PASS
Test Time: 17:09:40, October 14, 2013

I have uninstalled MagicISO as well.

I can't really show u how hot my pc gets after normal usage, because I most of the time can't use it normally because it crashes before I can do anything.. However, it has been running that test for like the entire day now and this is the temperature outcome.

Time for re-apply thermal paste.

Also, clean all the air vents and fan grills so that it can blow the hot air out efficiently.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know about the wattage of your PSU.

How big the case is? Is there enough space inside to flow air freely?

Let us know, after reapplying thermal paste.

I will let u know once I acquired some thermal paste.

However, you were implying it is the HDD, won't it be a good idea to replace it than?
Or would you rather say I shouldn't replace it?

At first you need to reapply the thermal paste, as that high temperature may cause the HDD malfunctions.

If the HDD is still troubling, then we may plan to replace it.
