Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working--How to Fix?

I think a Windows Update has messed with my Lenovo PC which I bought in 2011. It has been a good computer and has caused me no problems. But about two months ago I think Windows 7 updated and now Windows Explorer won't work. I've tried every fix posted on YouTube. The easy ones and the more deeper fixes. Updated CCleaner and ran that but other then speeding up my pc which is good the Windows Explorer problem remains.... I'm to the point that maybe I should just download Windows 7 and reinstall it. Of course my OEM disks are gone as we moved three times since 2011. My System Backup was not on so I can't do a System Restore. I have a lot of family information on this PC and I don't want to mothball it unless I have to do so. Does anybody have any fixes to try?

run both the W7 repair tools,

sfc/scannow (from an Elevated command prompt)

reboot

Then KB947821 (SURT)

Wont work how what happens any error just to be clear are you talking about the file manager?
