Hi all!

I have a problematic Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit that keeps crashing. As the PC was formatted some three days ago and the problem persists, it's probably a hardware issue, but memtest86+ says no errors, so, I don't know what might be the actual cause. Can you help me decipher the minidump files?

Thanks!

I wonder if AVG is causing them, so please remove it with this tool: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_arm_sup_____.dir/avgremover.exe

Replace with MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

If the problem persists, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Thanks, but I'll try the driver updates before completely removing the brand of antivirus I've been happy with for years.

Your first .dmp file shows Rtnicxp.sys (Realtek 10/100/1000 NDIS 5.1 Driver) Download and install the latest version from Realtek
That's my ethernet card. Device manager says it's Realtek RTL8139/810x, which is not available on the manufacturer's site: Realtek

Your second .dmp file shows nvlddmkm.sys (nVidia Video drivers) Download and install the latest version from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I gather these are drivers I use for my Creative SoundBlaster live! 5.1 (model: SB0100), and these are the ONLY working drivers I managed to find for this card. Finding those wasn't easy either, so, I'm open to suggestions.

You may try disabling the Creative card temporarily to see if the BSODs quit. If they do, time to buy a new card.

If the problems persist be sure to remove AVG. It is a common cause in Vista and 7 systems.

I'm removing AVG now to see whether that has any effect.

How did you get the summaries of the dumps though? I googled a while back, but found no down-to-the-point tutorial.

Yes, please use MSE. It's the only free AV I have NOT seen cause BSODs.

If you want to go paid, use ESET 2010.

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 9153daef, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 96989c68, Trap Frame

Since the card is not in use, I might just try disabling it to see whether that affects anything?

I was starting to think that disabling the realtek card fixed it, but another BSOD. Minidump added.

Although to me it looks like networking, your driver seems to be up to date.
I checked other drivers in use during the dump, they are fairly up to date. The only real old one that was not a MS driver is this one:

ac97via.sys Mon Nov 22 15:29:55 2004

It is for audio. Although I really feel that the chances of this correcting the problem are nominal; you should always have up to date drivers. Lets give it a try.

Windows says that's up to date too... but I'll try disabling it and living without sound for a while.

Go to the website to update. Do not trust the Windows update. If it is up to date no need to disable. Its not the cause.

Since that's integrated audio, I probably need to get drivers for the whole MOBO, but the manufacturer's site doesn't offer any :(

I've got a Canyon CN-9V4A-L
