I'm experiencing a problem on windows7. I installed Windows7 last 2 months and until now, I haven't seem to have had any problem. My problem is that, when I load a game (Ragnarok) or watch a movie in my computer, it restarts. and no, I do not get the BSoD. It ran fine until this week. The only notable thing I did on my computer this week is that I changed my antivirus program and installed a new one. I have tried using System Restore and I still have the same problem so I've eliminated that as my problem. I'm thinking maybe it's the video card? but hell, I was able to run the game or the movies for 2months, why would it crash now.. and Ragnarok is a pretty lowtech game..

MY PC specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1200 Series 128MB

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SF

It can be driver issue? have you done any window update so far? If so, you might want to go to manufacture's website to download latest version of graphic driver, network, bios, sound cards etc..

Also, pleasr run system file check: start-->type cmd in search and run as administrator-->sfc /scannow (space between sfc and /)

I play Ragnarok Online, I don't know where you live, but the Indonesian version have a fatal glitch that results to something similar to what you experience, I need to specifically delete several files in Ragnarok folder to be able to play...

I'm a fan of online games too, and sometimem I experience that, especially when I let the game play for longtime (I guess online gamers do this usually).
At the moment when the window restart, do you feel the computer is running at unnormal high temperature? Do you experience that for that game only or with other online games?

I play on a private server but it didn't have any update prior to when the problem started so I doubt it's caused by some files, but care to point out which files you deleted?

@ttran

When it restarts, It just goes black, then immediately goes ON again, and at the startup, the Choose between Safe Modes and Regular Mode appears stating that it was shutdown to protect data and etc.
I monitor the temperatures while playing using HWMonitor by CPUID and everything seems to be fine..
Also, I don't have any other Online Game to test on, but it also occurs when I watch a movie..

I still want you to check the step above. Beside that, I doubt that directx might cause the problem, reinstall directx now is not bad idea

So far, I've only updated the graphic driver. I don't know how to do BIOS, sound cards. Please guide me through a procedure.

Installing the DirectX End-User Runtime now.

Hi, I have the same problem. The PC runs fine all the applications but with game i have random reboots without BSOD and memory dumps. I disabled the option "automatic restart" and enable create dumps, but windows restart anyway and not generate the dump files.
I tried everything. on hardware check the memory (changing voltages and running memtest), motherboard (upgraded the BIOS), PSU, temperature and software, uninstall (and disable) the sound drivers, ATI HDMI Audio.
My suspect comming with DirectX. Depends of the version could work fine or not.
I'm still looking for an answer to this problem, so i'll post here if i can find some answer.

PD: sorry by my bad english.
