the vga works, but the color is....

thinking of giving this system to my son in September and go build myself one with the latest specs. Shouldn't have more problems then.

well dude something just bit my arm and im gunna pass out before i scratch it off but maybe you can test the monitor on another system with dvi maybe the whole thing was a coincidence, iv never heard of that happening before but im curious to hear what the solution is

yes, and I'm curious when someone or nVidia, is coming out with a stable driver.

There's no way this has anything to do with the NVidia driver. The more I think about it, the more this sounds like a hot-swap issue and something is supported differently in 7201 than in prior builds. Any card readers on that monitor? It's *physically impossible* for the PC to be turned off by the MONITOR if it's connected via VGA.

hmm.... that's what I could not figure out. But it is possible in one single scenario. When one switches the power off the monitor, the monitor will send a signal to the graphic card telling it there is no longer a display device available. But this is a very basic driver function/programming that has existed forever... and no one else seems to be having this issue....

I had something similar with my Media PC, with one of the builds I've tried (could possible be 7127, i've had about 4 different builds since Jan...). Anyhow, Samsung LCD tv connected via hdmi, to an Nvidia 7600GT, everytime I powered off the screen the PC would bugcheck and reboot.

Eventually resolved by a driver upgrade (i think to the latest on WU, but take a look at guru3d or Nvidia Win7 betas - as always with Nvidia there's always a number of issues, so if using them you might want to check every now and then for updates).

I've got a similar problem running the official W7 RC x64 (build 7100). BSOD occurs when my PC resumes from sleep and my monitor is off. Actually, the BSOD doesn't happen until I turn on the monitor. The monitor is connected using a HDMI cable and a DVI converter to a 9500GT. I've tried all sorts of NVIDIA drivers including the ones from windows update. I didn't have this problem in beta build 7000 so I'm beginning to think something changed between the builds.

So, any news on this?

Researching this issue, I came across this. Easy Lai signed off the EC Directives Compliance Statement for this monitor. I wonder if he has posted in Profile Pics.

DDC, Display Data Channel, does support a serial link over VGA (pins 9, 12, and 15). My shot in the dark is this: Using the monitor menu icon shown, disable [FONT=~FP13E6rRoman][FONT=~FP13E6rRoman]DDC/CI support - this a comm path from the monitor to the PC, and as such, may have an affect (no, I do not mean effect).[/FONT][/FONT]

Just resolved a similar issue with my setup.
main culprit was the HDMI lead, i have a 3m lead which works fine on all other equipment(skyhd, blurayplayer etc) but on my pc every time i switched sources or the display went to screen saver it would BSOD or not come on again or force a restart. changed the HDMI lead and all was fine.(for now).
It seems that some leads have an issue with power supply so that when your video card switchs to a low power state and then when you want to wake up the monitor it cant because it cant find the correct power supply(switching the monitor off then on again sometimes works)this is due to the lead not carrying the power correctly either because the lead is too good(sounds daft i know) or it has an internal problem, apparently most other TV, bluray etc, dont rely on this so much as they are permanently in a high power state, also the longer the lead the more likley the problems, i know this after spending a large amount of time in various PC stores(the consesus was that HDMI/dvi is still not properly supported), Electrical suppliers this morning, i ended up buying a 3m lead from Lidle for £4.99 works fine, my £80 monster cable was a no go.

I also rolled the video driver back to the original install driver and didnt use the update that windows update downloaded after my install.

Hope this makes some sense.
