pc to tv what lead?

Hi i want to connect my pc to my tv,,I hear all sorts of problems so im asking if any bright spark knows and can help me,
I have a dvi gpu card on pc,,and a jvc tv with only a 2 scart sockets and a 4-PIN s video at front.
What lead/s do i need as want to watch films in bed with my lovely lady?

I was thinking of doing this a few years back, so my memory is spotty. Sorry.
But I know you use the S-Video cable to connect the two. But output from a video card does not play native on a TV so I recall you had to make several settings adjustments - 480x320 resolution, changing the Hz rate. And I seem to recall you needed a second monitor to hook up while doing all the settings. All too complicated to be worthwhile to me. HDMI to HDMI would be a lot easier.
I remember I got all my info through a web search. I think you search for "connect computer to TV with S-Video cable".

Any recent graphics card should automagically detect a TV as soon as you plug in using any of the connections available.

First you need to determine how you'll be able to connect. On your graphics card you said you have a DVI port. Just that one? What other port do you have? Then you find out what type of connection your TV is able to use. In this case you say you have an S-Video port on the front of the TV? So unless you have an S-Video port on your graphics card, you're going to need a converter of some type. This is where things start to get a little dicey.

But first, let's establish what connections you actually have specifically on the graphics card.

I have a gts 250 1gb with 2 dvi slots only on it,my tv will be my bedroom tv which is jvc it has a s video port at front(4 pins) and 2 scarts at back and video(yellow)red and white ports at front to.
My downstairs tv is hdmi ports which is a shame but dont want to fork out for a new tv if i can use the jvc which is a great tv

You'll of course need to get an adapter, DVI to S-video or SCART, though SCART is an increasingly obsolete connection it will be difficult to find the right cable, at least in the US. I searched Newegg and didn't find anything related to DVI to S-video.

Use the DVI-VGA adapter that came with your card and get one of these,

HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!

about the only thing you can do if you want to connect that card to a TV that doesn't have VGA/DVI/HDMI connectors.

oh sod it,im gonna get a lil 22 inch ,dvd,digital tv lcd tv for my room to watch tv in bed from pc,,iys hdmi so alls good!
Any one want a jvc telly or else its going dump
