HDMI PC to TV - Not working anymore.

Okay it's a bit of a weird one, basically I think I've blown up the whole HDMI related hardware on my desktop. The lead I was using for HDMI wasn;t the most reliable and would have to be plugged out and in sometimes to get it working -

I've tried several other working hdmi leads - tested and it no longer works.
Also used VGA < on Desktop to HDMI < on TV - it doesnt work.

VGA to VGA is working thankfully so I'm using the desktop now to post for help. Any ideas how much this would cost to be fixed? or could I do it myself?. Thanks for any help.

hi are you plugging it in to the graphics card for hdmi if so try the motherboard hdmi port. remove the graphics card to use motherboard hdmi port to see if that one works.

Hiya, I have no idea how to do that lol. Do you have any ideas whats caused this?

If you were "hot plugging" the HDMI cable (that means with the power on to the computer and/or monitor) into the monitor, you've likely blown the HDMI port on either the monitor, or the computer's graphics card.

Never, ever plug in an HDMI, DVI, or VGA cable with the power on to the devices being plugged in. Always make sure that the power is off to both the computer and the monitor before plugging in, or removing the cable.

That being said, a blown HDMI port cannot be fixed by you, and the cost may not be worth it to fix for you, depending on what part has blown. The cost of repair may exceed the cost of a new graphics card, for example, depending on what your card cost.
