PC vs. Laptop - Different audio in headphones

I have a problem with my laptop and my headphones, I think it's a software problem. Well, when I plug my headphones into the front jack of the PC, the sound is very clear and also with alot of bass but when I connect the headphones to the laptop in the only jack (the one on the side), the sound keeps the same quality but the bass effect dissapears. Firstly I thought that I have to switch from "Speakers" to "Headphones" in the laptop's audio control panel (I'm using Windows 7) but I couln't found/select the "Headphones" options. The driver used on the laptop seems to be different than the one used for the PC. Do you have any idea of what's happening, something more clear than "check the settings on PC to match the one on laptop", etc?

You should be able to adjust your bass and treble under volume mixer, then select which output device.

As the sound quality is the same I think you are right. I've tried this but the VIA HD Audio Deck that comes with my laptop's drivers have very little options, I'll try another audio driver, thank you!

Go to "Playback Devices" (from right click on the spaeaker in the taskbar notification area), double click on your speaker (headphone) icon, go to the "Enhancements" tab. There you can boost your bass. Note that audio enhancements eat a bit of CPU power.
