Yes, I was confused too, as I assumed I could overwrite whatever was on C: from the DVD. It does load files from the DVD, but then returns the winload.exe error message I mentioned befiore. I might try the windows 7 disk in my own pc, to see if i get any further.
Incidentally, the same error is reported when trying to install windows from within windows, so I presume it must write some files to disk as it goes, maybe even as temp files to keep RAM clear?
I'll try the scan as well later.
