PC Wont sleep

Hi,
Fresh install on Windows 7 SP1 x64.
After having windows 8 for 6 month decided to downgrade. Sleep worked perfectly fine for one week, not my PC does not enter sleep after 30mins or even when I click sleep. When I do, the screen goes blank for 2 seconds and then comes back on.

I've ran powercfg -lastwake and got wake count as 0
I also ran powercfg -request and got an active remote client has recently sent request to this machine.

I've gone into hardware manger and check all my deceives and disabled some to see if it would fix the problem. Ive also checked for the latest drivers.

I cant run system restore because for some reason I have like 3 restore point from yesterday and that's it

The "active remote client has recently sent request to this machine" indicate something might be blocking the sleep. See this: Windows 7 does not go to sleep

In those Power Options you could also try yo disable hybrid sleep.

Ok,
those tutorial by Brink did not work. After doing them powercfg show none for all categories.

In Power options hybrid sleep was set to on. So I turn it off, which seems to put the computer sleep, expect for taking slightly longer to wake up.

I never had to turn this feature off, what disadvantages are there off having it set to off?

With Hybrid Sleep the session is written to RAM and to the Hibernate file when the PC goes to sleep.
It is doing a Sleep and Hibernate.

When the PC wakes:
If the power did not go out while sleeping it will Wake from Sleep.
If the power did go out while sleeping it will Resume from Hibernate.

For me it's faster to sleep if I don't use Hybrid.
Wake from Sleep is faster than Resume from Hibernate for me.
I use Hybrid because I like the "insurance" the system will restore even if the power goes out while sleeping.
I don't know why yours is slower to wakeup with Hybrid turned off ???

I had an issue a while back where sleep stopped working.
I normally login with a Standard account.
I logged in with my Admin account, and sleep worked.
I logged out and logged back in with my Standard account.
Sleep worked again for that account!

If you have another account, login with that and see if sleep works correctly.

If you put in a RequestOverride, you can paste your command in a reply here.
I can look at it and see if I notice anything wrong with it.
That's up to you if you want to post the command.

Is there a way to see what command I have in place? I cant remember what I wrote.
Also in my power plan I no longer have the option to allow hybrid sleep or not. Its completely gone D:

Hibernate needs to be enabled to have the Hybrid option.
Use option One in this tutorial by Brink.

I think this command will list any RequestsOverride you have (I'm on Win 8.1 right now)

powercfg /requestsoverride

What happens if the power does go out? Does my PC become unbootable or something?

I did my own googleing last night while waiting for the reply and apparently it had something to do with a driver or some sort, but it must work as now powercfg does not show anything but wont allow sleep unless hybrid is turn off


I've had windows 7 and Windows 8 on this PC before and never had a problem with sleeping, I then reinstall windows 7 and it was fine for a week on hybrid sleep.

So strange...

I'm having problems with windows back up, so you think a repair install might fix both?

If power goes out while sleeping without Hybrid when you restart the PC you'll get a warning message the PC did not cleanly shutdown.
You should be able to do a normal startup without issues.
The previous Windows session will be lost, and any unsaved data may be lost.

Before doing a Repair Install I would do a System File Check (SFC) to see if that can fix issues.
If SFC finds issues you may need to run it 3 times with a reboot after each run to fix all issues.

Maybe a System Restore or Restoring a Backup Image (if you have one) will fix this ???
I've never heard of a sleep problem caused by using Hybrid but with the Backup issue it sounds like you do have "System Issues"...

The Request Override looks ok to me.

Looks like im in for a fun weekend.
SFC says it cant find any problems, and then I go to do a repair install, and I get an error prevented a required compliance check from completing. Cancel the installation and try upgrading again.

I guess I will have to do another fresh install just when I got this one the way I wanted
