PCI 1394 Hardware Failure System Halted

The computer is a HP DC7900. I bought a firewire card. VIA 6307. Inserted, booted, and received hardware malfuction nmi parity check error system halted. I removed the card, system booted into Windows 7 32 Pro.
I contact the manufacturer - and they had no drivers for a firewire card.

I have a HP ML310. I removed that firewire card, same make, that was working fine in the ML310. I inserted that second firewire card into the DC7900 and received the hardware failure.

If the adapter works in one HP and fails in another HP computer that leaves me without sufficient resources to fix this uncomplicated procedure.

Let me know if there is a method to insert the PCI 1394 card into the DC7900 - avoid the hardware failure - and Windows 7 launching.

Under Device Manager everything was in perfect order, no discrepancies.

It does sound like there's a hardware failure in the card slot on the motherboard. Looks like there's 3 PCI slots [white] on the board, have you tried the card in all 3? The 4th white slot/socket is for a PCIe video adapter but don't know what the black one beside it is for. There is a PCIe X1 slot between the PCIe and PCI slots.

The pin arrangement on the PCI 1394card will only populate the first slot.

Is there a brand name for the card? VIA is well known for their chips/chipsets that they sell to the card-makers.
