It is incredible such good protection is available free.

I like Avast - it is one of the fastest scanners, it's the only app that scans Web traffic for malware, and is also the only one to offer support (email) to free users.

it sure is...and it's one of the primary reasons that i hardly see much of a need anymore for piracy. Once I started getting into the free tools and open source stuff, there just became no need to deal with anything that required hacks, cracks, serials, keygens, activators, etc.

I personally use AVG myself and it has done me well. I started using Avira when I started playing around with Win7...but I'm willing to give up a small amount of protection going with AVG to eliminate the daily nag message from Avira everytime it updated. And I know there are ways to eliminate the nag from popping, but I don't usually like to circumvent what the software manufacturer setup. I'd rather just use another product if the first one is bothering me.
