Pentium G860 3.00GHz (Sandy Bridge) orIntel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz(ivy)

Which of the 2 processors should i go for?
The pentium is £40 cheaper is it worth buying the dearer ivy bridge cpu. I dont do gaming.Uses will be video converting and photo processing are the 2 main uses?
Any opinions
Personally from the specs and i may have overlooked something there isnt a great deal between the 2 or is there?

I personally would get the i3, I suspect it will perform much better than the Pentium. If you are doing video and photo work neither one may do well.

I'm with Britton30 here, the i series generally have a few more "features". Doesn't the i series have "smaller" architecture? 22nm I think. I think they run cooler also but don't quote me on that.

Sandy Bridge = 32nm
Ivy Bridge = 22nm
Both have the i series.

I didn't think any of the Pentiums were in the Sandy Bridge family. I was under the impression they replaced the Celerons as the low-budget, low-performance chips.

I'd go with the i3, simply because it is a newer architecture.

The I3 supports hyperhtreading. The G860 does not. I'd expect the I3 to have better performance in multi-threaded applications.

Im unsure yet due to cost. Ive looked at gigabyte Z77 DH3, so would be something similar.
Ive got a post in installation on ssd and may have to get a new ssd, because ideally i want to keep my old system.
Ive looked at the I5 series and may plump for one of those
