Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a 10yr old Asus G73JH-A1 custom built by XoticPC ($4k at the time with top of the line components and not pushed hard ever)
Have been reaching the upper limit of my 2 150GB SSDs recently so performed a windows deepclean from the operating system tools (not 3rd party). Everything went well, the superceded updates were removed and CBS folder was trimmed (by the tool).
Updated versions of Gimp and LibreOffice. The latter requiring restart.
Restart hung up with Windows Config@100% complete (stuck there for an hour or more)...
Did the worst thing and turned off the laptop.
Power on F8... Fix... System Restore... 3 restore point in the previous 24 hours. All system restore attempts failed to complete. No changes
System File Check locks up at 2% complete after deleting corrupt attribute list entry with type code 128 in file 57606. Deleting corrupt attribut record (128, $J) from file record segment 4626... And it has been over an hour with no change. This is still displayed on my screen.
My last system backup was in Feb of this year and is on an external SSD but don't want to go there if possible. It has been 10 years and the recovery disk is ???. No original OS disc from manufacurer delivered with system.
Please, help. My skill level is: Knows just enough to really screw things up mixed with healthy respect for the tools.
System will not start in safe mode; safe mode with command prompt; or normally... All encounter the configuring windows screen and seem to get hung up around 35%. Say seem because I do the dumb thing and power off after it hangs there for 30 mins plus.
