Computer hung up on "Configuring Windows updates 41%" since last night

Hello all. Last night I shut off my Dell computer with Windows 7 home premium. It started an update that I believe had 29. Later I realized I needed to look at something and turned it back on. It started the "Configuring Windows updates do not turn off your computer" but it has gotten hung up at 41%. The little circle is still spinning but has been like this since 11pm last night. I have not done anything yet.

Thank you for any help you can give me!
Holly

ABout the only thing you can do now is force a shutdown, holding in the power button for about 5-6 seconds.
Boot to Safe Mode, and let it attempt to either repair the system or complete the updates.
Hopefully you'll then be able to boot to normal mode, and install any that didn't work this time around.
