I'm using windows 7 ultimate and i had a cause to use system restore to try and fix a flash issue on a streaming tv site.But what i've been left with ,is the blue windows loading ring stuck going round and round right next to the mouse cursor

I've rebooted,logged off and i's just the same .One other thing.After system restore has restored ,my desktop remained just a black blank screen ,with the mouse cursor.I thought SR had failed ,so i had to used a couple of other restore points through my system repair disc,same black screen happened each time,sometimes my password screen would show up ,other times it wouldn't ,eventually on the last attempt ,it took a few minutes until my desktop eventually appeared,long after i entered my password .Is this wait normal for system restore (a long wait for the desktop to appear after entering your password?.
