What are some of your pet peeves? I have many, but here are a few of the most annoying to me personally, which I'm sure everyone here has been exposed to at one time or another.

1) Using the word "load" to replace any number of technical terms. Some people abuse this word to the point where you cannot understand a thing they are talking about, and "load" could mean anything, and everything, to the point where the word becomes essentially meaningless. It's like "load" actually means "fill in the blank(s)." We no longer boot our computers, we "load" Windows. You don't refresh your browser, you "load" Internet Explorer. The list goes on and on, ad nauseam. This one drives me absolutely nuts!

2) Giving advice that has absolutely nothing to do with the question. For instance, someone asks how to do something in Internet Explorer, and is given an answer in the form of "download and install Firefox." Or someone asks something like how do I play .flv files in Windows Media Player, and is given a response like "Download and install FLV Player." Why would someone want to install a crapload of bloatware, and another entire media player just to play one single video format, when they just need a codec pack? This is NOT an answer to the question! This one drives me absolutely bonkers too.

Unfortunately i actually Do No.2 in my job, mainly because the internal websites are not compatible with IE9 (Don't ask...) So quite a few users have Chrome/FF installed. But i agree it is sodding annoying having to do it when developers can't do simple browser compatibility checks..

How about Users saying that it just suddenly stopped working, and then finding out that they installed a program or changed a setting without telling you....

1. Customer calls in on the support line "Quick question..." Complete bull $<>%.
2. The parent company. I'll leave it at that.

Oh no. I hope that does not mean you don't like me because that's what I did in my early SF days...
Anyway, back to topic. My pet peeve is when someone thinks a program is the best one there is but in reality, there is always some better alternative. Wait, that sounds like me again.

Good one! I can't stand that either.

What about people saying "no offense, but....[insert insult]" right before they tell you something they KNOW will offend you. Whenever someone says no offense, rest assured they will do exactly that!

One that really irritates me is damned politicians saying "at this point in time". Complete stupidity as there is no such thing.
The correct term is, "now".

1. People using obscure driver downloaders and insisting that it's safer than downloading the drivers manually from the official page.
2. People who buy those phone covers in which you put your ID and CC as well.
3. C errors.
4. When parents insist that their kid's PC got broken because they use it too much.
5. When the phone battery jumps from 40% to 15% (Yeah I know, I should really get that replaced)
6. When I do extensive troubleshooting on a machine that does not power up just to realize it was unplugged (Yeah, I have the memory span of a beer molecule)
