Solved phone call from company representing windows says i have errors?

I received a call this evening saying I have many errors - events on my computer being sent to windows daily and they needed to help me fix them- the last part of their name was VAP- I never heard of them- has anyone? they had my windows id number=- well the first part of it- they guided me thru commands to show me the rest of my id number and they did read it all to me- they brought me to events page which said I had 24 thousand events!~ yikes! most of them seemed related to Bonjour Service. The guy then transferred me to his supervisor who wanted me to give him control of my computer. I was reluctant to do this and he became angry- I asked why can't u tell me what steps to take and I can do it? he asked Are u a technician? grrrr I told him I didn't feel comfortable to which he replied well hang up then and your computer will break ! I asked him if this was going to cost me money and he said maybe. I took his name and number and said I would get back to him. he kept wanting to know what antivirus I had and who installed it etc>>> I just didn't feel comfortable- has anyone had this happen or know if windows has such a company? I looked up the Bonjour Service and see that is installed on your computer when you download ITunes- I did find steps to remove it but haven't done so because I used iTunes. sigh- can anyone help me- why have I never been notified by my computer about these events?

The caller is nothing but a lying, no-good-for-nothing scammer (I have better terms but Mama told me not to use those words) who has nothing to do with Microsoft or any other legitimate company. You were smart not to give him control of your computer. Unless you gave them access to your computer, there is no way they could no what was going on with your computer and chances are there is nothing wrong with it.

got really nervous so called Microsoft directly- this is a total scam- many people are receiving these calls- don't give any info out!

They call me twice a week. If I have time I play along to waste theirs.

My best record so far is about 20 minutes with three different people (original "technician" and two "supervisors").
The last "supervisor" finally gave up and said "Why are you wasting my time?" then hung up.

Oh dear!
You must have been hacked just liked me. I was hacked by hackers via malware downloaded via some java online radio stations which downloaded malicious malware to my system.Then I started receiving calls from India.The same guy is using social engineering to trick you my dear!

I haven't received a M$ scam/spam call in a long time now. The ones I wish I could stop are the ones from the miserable, misbegotten survey takers, politicians, and charities (I suspect most, if not all, of the latter are phony anyway). With the upcoming elections, I'm just about ready to shut off the ringers and answering machine on my phones. I had to do that for that for three months during last general election period because I was getting several political calls a day, sometimes as many as a dozen. I'm not far from ripping out my landline and going completely off the grid.
