I'm using Windows 7 x64, and installed Photoshop CS4. The x86 version runs fine, but the x64 version crashes when I run certain filters, e.g. Radial Blur. It just stops, and crashes. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you in advance.

I have the EXACT same problem. Radial Blur crashes Photoshop CS4 every time.

It's not on all win7 x64 installations.
I've just tried the Radial Blur in CS4 several times with no problem.

Same here. PS CS4 64 bit chrash when using Radial blur. I does not happen with the 32 bit in my lap top. I am presently installing PS CS4 32 bit on my 64 bit PC and will report later.

EDIT:

Well I just re-installed the PhotoShop component 32 bit from my Master edition on my 64 bit Windows 7 PC and this included the 32 bit version. You cannot just install the 32 bit version without also including the 64 bit version.

Not more problems with the radial blur crash with 32 bit PS. VERY WEIRD!!!!

I am quite sure this will be solved in the final version and ADOBE will also have to made aware of some of the bugs in the Adobe / Windows combo.

Just realised that I tried radial blur using CS4 32bit from the program files x86 installation folder in Windows7 64bit. It runs correctly.

If CS4 is run using the 64bit version from program files in Windows 7, as soon as Radial Blur is used, the program crashes.

For any further testing, it would be useful if everyone specified that they tried CS4 64 bit, NOT the 32bit version in Windows 7 x64, as that's what caught me out in my testing.

Sorry about changing the subject but I've also encountered problems with IE8 64 bit. Had some redraw issues when scrolling through long tall web pages. If I scroll back up it leaves a nice trail of black horizontal lines. I have a Gforce 9800GT - not the best but certainly not that bad either. Updating to the latest drivers did not solve the problem. However, using the IE8 32 version that gets installed piggy back works without any of those problems. Stability of IE 8 ridding on 7 is abnother story though. Mozilla seems to work fine. So it might seem that some of the 64bit versions of programs actually do not work as well on some 64 bit machines running the the beta 7.

Same here Radial blur works here with Photoshop cs4 (32bits), but crashes with photoshop cs4 (64bits). surely a problem with the 64bits plugin that will be fixed by either Adobe, if Windows 7 final doesn't fix this problem.

[edit and a little unrelared, sorry]
not sure if it's Windows 7 or Photoshop, but when I use the navigator to lower the resolution of a 8MP (3296x2472) photo under 25% with the navigator, they don't look as blurry as they did with photoshop CS4 under Windows Vista. they don't look blurry at all anymore and it's like working with CS3. Also, under vista without without GPU acceleration, picture looked weird... like too sharp or a little pixelized on the edges of an object while it doesn't happen under Windows 7 and everything looks normal as with Cs3.
I doubt it's the driver as when I installed W7 I used the same drivers that were installed on Vista, the 8.12 from ATI. I almost bought a new card because of that thinking it was a compatibility problem with my aging x1800GTO...

Did anyone noticed something similar?

Hello guys,
I'm using win7 64bits. I've installed the Adobe CS4 suite and it have installed 2 photoshop, "Photoshop" and "Photoshop (64bits)". My problem is that "Photoshop (64bits)" dont work at all. I'm not even able to start the program. The normal photoshop runs perfectly. Another boring issue is that when i double click in a file it uses Photoshop (64bits) to open it and the the error pops up. I've tried to set up "open with" to the normal photoshop and it just dont work. So when I have to open a file I cant do it doble clicking. I have to open photoshop and drag the file into it.
Does anybody has similar problem? Does anybody has the solution?
Best guys.
Miro, Paris.
