Physical memory suddenly fills up, computer slows down

My HP desktop suddely slowed down for no reason -- to a "snail's pace" -- and I opened windows task manager and saw that the memory was 99% full. Restarting solves it for a few minutes, then it happens again. I've run Anti-virus (Avira says I have "multiple hidden files") -- and I need another program to fix that. It's been running Ok for a few hours, but I'm sure it will happen again.

When you are looking in the task manager, under the services tag..
What process is eating all the memory (it will be displayed in one of the columns there)?
It will likely be using a good chunk of your cpu time as well.

Once you've identified the process try killing it, (right click - end process) then pass along the name of the process here and we'll see about fixing the problem.

Install Malwarebytes, the free fersion, run a FULL SCAN ON ALL OF YOUR USER ACCOUNTS.
Most of us use Microsoft Security Essentials, it has a small footprint and works great.

Strange... I did this -- and when my ram went full... I checked task manager and a program called "Elementsautoanalyzer" was using 7+GB of ram (I have 8).. When I disabled it -- all was fine. My problem started when I bought and installed Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10. Could this be the cause?

How do I get rid of this -- it comes back when I restart the computer.

If it is a startup item you can remove it by type msconfig in the run/search box in the start menu and hitting enter.
Go to the startup tab, and look for the program in question and untick it.
This will not uninstall it and it will likely still load when you use photoshop.
It will stop it from starting up every time though.

I would write adobe they have really good support there (they should their stuff sure cost enough)
Anyhow, they likely have a fix to your problem. It's possible you need to open photoshop and run the update utillity.

If it turns out it is a service I suggest disabling it from the services part of the management console (right click my computer - management)

As disabling services from msconfig is not really the recommended method.
