Do hear the mail out and spend a few min - I am SURE this is something that hasn't been addressed before.

I am at wits end regarding a glitch in Win 7 that I can't even begin to describe to a person over the phone (and I am a techie)

I can't say pixelation, appearing as blocks in certain parts of the screen, or even a graphics card error.

I am using a Thinkpad T400 running on win 7 (I have attached a link with s/w and h/w specs).
I seem to be having this glitch that is just not going away - windows updates, driver updates, clean ups. uninstalls, geez

Certain parts of the screen suddenly appears as pixelated or in blocks.
Now we all do most of our work now a days in browsers, spreadsheets or angry birds :)
check out the screen shots i have attached in links. I am going nuts...

What do you think? It would even help if you could tell me how to even correctly DESCRIBE this. :)

Regards
Hari Somanath

If you have an external monitor either LCD or CRT, connect it to your thinkpad and check the display. If you are getting good image, your laptop's LCD has gone bad.

If you get the same effect (random blocks on the top portion of the monitor), then the problem lies in either display card or the driver.

Try to change the resolution and the color depth values available (16 bit, 24 bit, 32 bit). Adjust screen refresh rate (accept the recommended values. Keep a tick mark on Hide modes this monitor can not display) from advanced properties in display properties.

Go to Color Management - Advanced and calibrate the display. Try the Troubleshoot tab.

In the Adapter tab, check the adapter memory values and see anything is suspecious. Go to Adapter properties and check all tabs. Try to update or Rollback the device driver. Check for any conflicts.

Finally try to get a latest display driver from Intel and install.
