Play .au files in windows

Is there a codec I can use to enable me to play such a file or can I use some program to convert it to a usable format?

Google search states that the file can be opened by WMP, RealPlayer and Apple Quicktime Player.

AFAIK, AU files are UNIX-generated audio files created by Sun Microsystems. They should play in Apple quicktime, WMP and Real Player.

As far as I know, Apple QuickTime should be able to play .au files.
