This is what I have and run:

ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6T DELUXE V2 (LGA1366)
Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
12.0 GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 801MH
HP 2310 (1920x1080@59Hz)
1024MB GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Gigabyte)
1954GB (for storage) Western Digital WDC WD20EARS-00S8B1 ATA Device (SATA)
78GB Seagate (for OS and Programmes) ST380215AS ATA Device (SATA)

Running MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
nVidia driver 285.62

I cannot easily explain the problem but things seem to be lagging behind when I do certain things. Windows Explorer being the worse when I slide the mouse down the tree after a click on a folder (to go to another nested folder)...here's an image.

Image1-2.jpg

It also happens in something like Helium Music Manager and other programmes when I re-size a column for example. The text in the adjacent column gets half covered before it realizes it is supposed to move as well, conversley, should I move the column back the text stays behind until it again realizes it is supposed to move. When programmes like TuneUp open, it takes time for the elements to display on the interface window. I have never seen any of these things before on my old computer (or in a previous installation on this PC of Vista 64).

Even on my old computer, with an old 9500GT nothing like this happened at all...ever.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know there's a newer driver 296.1 and I was using that one in Vista 64bit (on this same PC) before I put Windows 7 in. In that case I had to roll back to this older 285.62 to stop the problems of it pink screen crashing online.

I need help, otherwise I'm going to have to go back to Vista and do the whole re-install thing again....for the third time.

Graphics are not really my field but you could see if ASUSTeK have any updated drivers for the motherboard, things are so intertwined these days that you cannot say that a graphics issue will be solved by tweaking the graphics drivers. You could also check if you can get hold of any device specific monitor drivers, as I have seen this work in the past

I just want to let anyone who comes across this that I now know what the problem was here. It was that I have used registry hacks to delete the 'Libraries', 'Homegroup', 'Favourites' and 'Network' icons from showing in explorer. The problem turned out to be that although the hack worked to delete them Windows was still trying to keep place-holders for them so when scrolling, despite the speed of my graphics adaptor, the above problem occurred.

As a last resort I restored the original registry values from backups I made and the problem stopped immediately.

Oddly though I tried this on my old laptop and I had no such issue but then it works a lot slower than the desktop.
