hey guys please help me i have a asus laptop. i got a virus. when i booted up it just went to a black screen with a cursor, so i reinstalled windows.

after doing so it now just keep restarting, it will make it to the starting windows screen then it restarts and keeps doing that.
I have tried all the following and have been unsuccessful:

- F2 while booting gives me two options:

1) Windows Setup [EMS Enabled]
2) Tools: Windows Memory Diagnostic

When I choose Windows Setup, Windows tries to boot and gets back into the black screen with a cursor.

When I choose the Windows Memory Diagnostic option, I get a message saying Windows failed to start - a recent HW/SW change might be the cause. It asks me to insert a Windows installation disc and restart my computer. The following information is also provided on this screen:

File: \boot\memtest.exe
Status: 0x000000f
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

- F8 while booting: tried every option provided on this screen to boot but all end up in the black screen with cursor issue, even in safe mode restarts

- Hold the F10 and F12 keys while rebooting - both end in a black screen

I have exhausted all the options I know and seeking advice on a cost effective way to revive the laptop.

i tried the chkdsk and said there was no problems?

PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

Well first lets do a reliable test on the memory.
I suggest allowing this to run overnight or 5 or so passes for reliable results. (if it starts spitting out errors right away there is no need to continue though)

The drive would seem okay let's make sure the memory is as well before proceeding.

Enter BIOS setup to set BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup make sure HD is detected and set correctly to AHCI mode to try install. If not change the cables or replace HD.

Follow these basic steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which provides the latest installer, tells you how drivers are handled best, and provides the best tools and methods to get and keep a perfect install.

Now boot the Win7 installer, at first screen Press Shift + F10 to open a COmmand Line, run Diskpart Clean Command to wipe the HD of all code.

After it completes close Command Box, click Install Now, choose CUstom Install, at drive selection screen just click Next to let installer format an install partition for you and begin.

Post back results.

thank you, cleaned the disk..installing windows again now, hope this works!

If this happens again try entering Device Manager during the final phase of install to Disable any Devices whose drivers are erroring with an ! mark, likely the Display driver. This may allow it to complete install so you can Update driver from desktop.
Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

I would also use the latest official Installer with SP1 from Step 1 in tutorial, burned using tool in Step 2. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

If this fails to do it then test the RAM - Test with Memtest86+ CD for 5-6 passes or overnight, then test the HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan
followed by Disk Check from the installer's Command Line accessed by pressing Shift + F10 at first screen when booting DVD.

Fill in your System Specs in bottom left corner of post to go further than that.

Wow the clean disk thing worked, its back up, thanks to everyone who helped ! Godbless

Did you follow the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
which in Steps 9 and 10 is quite clear about how drivers are handled in Win7?

You were to download and unzip to CD or flash stick your network adapter from the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC or network adapter in case it was not in the Win7 installer, so that you can install it to get online to do all of the Important and Optional Windows Updates.

If you weren't clear about that step you should have asked ahead and not ignored it then ask back later as though you had not been clearly instructed on this from the start.

Tell us the make and Model PC, or if it's home built tell us the make and model of the network adapter you use to connect to internet. It may be listed in Device Manager, or you may have to trace it using Hardware Identification
