Ok so I was surfing and I got that pop scam.
the white window had a bunch of mumbo jumbo about security alert with a phone number to call to ensure your security then make sure you check you bank accts and so on.
Underneath that window you could see the bright blue screen that if you click to close the white window the annoying automated slightly female voice plays the call this number blah blah loop.

My question is should I download a stand along scan or do an online scan if so what would be some suggestions. I did run my malwarebytes free edition and AVG anti virus ( both showed nothing)

I am comfortable going into regedit and looking around and deleting if that would be the best route could someone direct me to the correct hive
Thank you

Hi Mamma,
Good spot, if MBAM came up clear your probably OK.
If you want to make doubley sure, I would also run eset Online, (dissable AVG during scan), check all the options.

For that you need an ad blocker. I am not supposed to post one here because this site receives finances from ads also.

What anti malware program do you use active?
Free Malwarebytes does not run active to block such things.

Close out of the browser though Task Manager. Also Chrome has an option to prevent pop up boxes from coming up. After you close out of your browser, do a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Just to be safe.

Did you or did you not remove the PUP's?

Once those PUP's are removed and it was my computer I would run this little free program from Bleeping Computer site.
