Possible fix for NTFS Errors

Hi, all! After a month or more the false ntfs 55 errors have started up again. I can't find anything that would cause this problem again at this time. The volume is not dirty and all chkdsk and related scans find no problems. I'm going to live with it as I'm tired of trying and finding reasons for this non-problem problem.

Did you check for rootkit as was mentioned earlier? Just a thought.

A long shot but try this:

2. Delete all restore points.
1. Disable System Protection for all drives.

3. Reboot
4. Enable System Protection and make sure allocated space is not more than 3-5% for >=1TB drives and up or 10-15% for drives less than 1TB.
5. Create a restore point.

Update: I think RPs will be deleted when System Protection is turned off so do the delete as number 1 above then disable SP as number 2. You need to force volsnap to update the System Volume Information folder.

Hi! No rootkits and not System Restore point creation this time. Realized problem started after Firefox update to 40.0. Yesterday Firefox was updated again to version 40.0.2 and no more ntfs errors so far. This makes sense as I researched some more and found that false ntfs 55 errors can be caused by software and Firefox was particularly mentioned. I'll give it some time to see if if the errors are really solved (again) and then I'll post again. Thanks for everyone's input. Much appreciated!
