In Windows 7, is it possible to create a guest account which has the permission to share internet connect like Ad-hoc?
Basically I want to use the laptop (with wifi) as a hotspot sharing the ethernet cable internet connect using a guest account only.
Any way to do this?

Thanks

If I understand your question correctly.

I think you would need a wifi router with the ability to have a 'guest' login to do this , it's not possible use a laptop to transmit wifi to other users.

I know there are some netgear routers that allow guest logins that are seperate from the more secure internal network wifi.

Well I am doing this from the Admin account but I don't know how to give permissions in the guest account and even if its possible to allow internet share or not. My laptop has the wifi and I can use it as a wifi hotspot using Ad-hoc.

Can you give us a little more detail on your setup? How are you connecting to the internet, via a router, or a modem?

Alright.
I am getting internet on my laptop through cable (ethernet, ADSL modem). My laptop is capable of connecting to wifi. I now basically want to use of laptop as a wifi hotspot in GUEST account, I am already doing this in Admin account.

Im sorry to say that I don't believe it's possible =/

The Guest account is wiped everytime it logs off, so any changes that did take would be reset every time.

On top of that, in order to set up ICS, you need to be an administrator.

I'm guessing you don't want an admin account for security reasons, having the laptop running all the time the internet is in use, with full admin privelidges, yeah probably not a great idea if you aren't the only person with access to the machine. (Although perfectly fine if you are...)

What you could try however, is following my ICS tutorial here; http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/76617-internet-connection-sharing-enable.html from a Standard Account, and just input the admin password when prompted to by UAC on initial setup. (Ignore my comments about wireless... it's not true you just need an Ad-Hoc network)

Whether that will work or not I don't know, because if you elevate a Standard Account, occasionally it applies the changes to the Admin account instead, but it is certainly worth a shot :)
