Hello

My computer does work at the moment but I feel these BSODs will continue and wanted to figure out the cause before it becomes a bigger issue. I assume the SSD as a disk check seems to be fixing the issue temporary but I don't think its the root cause. (Samsung 850 EVO 1TB)

I had a BSoD a few weeks ago

  • While watching a video I Blue Screened
    • Froze on the blue screen, hard reset
  • Rebooted to desktop
    • Internet Explorer kept crashing & SFC /Scannow wouldn't finish
  • Restarted which prompted a Check Disk, errors found
  • Was able to boot without any problems
    • SFC /Scannow No violations
    • Virus Check = Nothing
    • SSD Check using Crystal Disk Info = 100%
    • Blue Screen Viewer couldn't find anything
I had another BSoD today (12-Jan)

  • While watching a video I Blue Screened
  • Prompted a Disk Check on restart, Errors Found
  • Restart
    • Froze on startup on a black screen
    • Hard Reset
  • Start up repair found nothing
    • ProblemSig: 6.1.700.16385 (NoRootCause)
  • Rebooted to Desktop
    • SFC /Scannow No violations
    • Virus Check = Nothing
    • SSD Check using Crystal Disk Info = 100%
    • Blue Screen Viewer couldn't find anything
    • Updated graphics Driver = Was on Version 361.91

I am not an expert on troubleshooting so any Help would be appropriated. Log Attached

Hello Roy

Thank you for your help.

I have run DM Log again but it does look similar, I wasn't able to use Bluescreen Viewer either I definitely blue screened but I didn't write the code down assuming they had been recorded but the first time it did freeze during the crash dump forcing me to hard reset, but the second time it properly crashed and reset although it did freeze on start up.

If there is another way to give you the Dump Logs let me know I can see MEMORY.DMP in my system folder its 554mb though.

I no longer have a CD-rom, sometimes I connect one when I need a disk, I connected it after the crash to run a windows repair disk.

Maybe that's why I have those errors.

I have since unplugged the USB Bluetooth dongle I was using for a wireless mouse/keyboard I was using default Windows drivers for that.

Possibly the errors may be because I was not using full Bluetooth drivers

I have tried Samsung magician as well as Crystal and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong one with the firmware.
After searching maybe I could try a different SATA cable?

I cannot think of anything to explain this error as I thought do you think this could be the root cause?

Hi MH,
can you use Axe0's instuction in post 8, from this thread
BSOD after putting laptop into hibernate or sleep modus

Missed the final line re updating your Display drive:or.
This may fix your problem and will have possibly rendered the DMP logs as out of date.
wait for your next BSOD and repost a new set of logs.

Roy
